Rough Cut 3/ Evidence of Ongoing Editing
In our third rough cut edit, we have now added the Apex Productions ident and title which I made on after effects. We have also been able to cut the film down to the five minute time period given on our brief. Even though we had to cut a lot of footage out, I still think our film keeps that intensity we were all aiming for. We still have an issue with the buzzing sound which our editor Zack Vincent is trying to fix. We have also added a bit where the camera is dollying in to Anthony's face where you can here the therapist saying his name. This was something me and Fin originally wanted when writing the script and have been able to achieve it. Another stylistic choice we have added to our short film is a sped-up reverse shot of everything that happen prior to the therapy scene. I believe this sped-up sequence looks really attractive and stylish which I believe increases the overall professionalism of our film.
Evidence of Ongoing Editing:
Here are two images of the ongoing editing by our DP and director, Zack Vincent and Fin Davis. The two of them have been collaborating together to edit the film together to mine and Fin's desired vision. Fin and Zack have been putting in the main work for editing, however I have suggested a few editing techniques or cuts to Fin to see if he likes the idea or not.
As you can see in the first image featuring our protagonist Rory Wilton, Zack has been editing together the sound together with the main pieces of footage to allow director Fin to see if he likes this arrangement or not. Zack has used premiere Pro to put the footage and sound together. This software is very professional and useful for young filmmakers such as ourselves and I believe from seeing the first pieces of footage together, I can safety say the final product is going to look very professional.
In the second image, Zack has added in the Apex Productions Ident I made on Adobe After Effects. I made this logo by watching a step-by-step tutorial on the video co-pilot website, and then transferring this knew information onto After Effects to create my own Ident for our short. The tutorial was very helpful in allowing me to create my very own Ident which I thought I would never be able to achieve. I am ultimately very happy with the outcome of the Ident and 'White Lies' title and hope I have benefitted the group with what I have produced.
